What is the typical timeline for LMSW supervision?

Texas requires at least 3,000 hours of supervised clinical experience over at least 24 months, including at least 100 hours of supervision. Each supervision hour must be at least 60 minutes. Our group meets weekly; plan for some prep time between sessions.
What is your approach to supervision?

We utilize a collaborative approach that encourages cohort engagement, peer feedback, and varied perspectives. We believe that good supervision, much like therapy, requires ongoing work in between sessions. Supervisees are expected to practice what they learn in supervision and improve their clinical skills through consistent effort in their own work.
What topics will be covered in supervision?

Supervision will focus on clinical skill development in various evidence-based modalities including DBT, TF-CBT, and ACT. We’ll also address ethical issues, social and cultural considerations, professional and career development, test preparation, and case conceptualization.

Yes. Supervisor changes are common, and can occur due to work changes, life circumstances, or personal preference. If you are looking to switch from one supervisor to another, be sure to update your documentation with BHEC.
